A Voting Guide

On November 7, Americans have the privilege and duty to vote for leaders who will make a positive difference in our land. The Bible says, "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people" (Proverbs 14:34).
Here's a simple "voting" guide to follow.
V stands for "values." Let God's standards guide your decisions.
O stands for "obedience." We not only have the privilege of choosing our lawmakers; we also have the responsibility to live as law-abiding citizens. (Read Romans 13:1-7; 1 Timothy 2:1-4; and 1 Peter 2:13-17 before you vote.)
T is for "truth." Cast your ballot for candidates and causes that best reflect honesty, integrity, and sound moral principles.
I stands for "involvement." Don't waste one of liberty's most precious privileges by refusing to vote. Edmund Burke wrote, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
N means "neighbors." If we love our neighbors as ourselves, we won't vote out of mere self-interest. We will consider what's best for our nation, for our neighborhoods, and for generations yet unborn.
Finally, G stands for "God." Don't leave him out of the voting booth. Prayerfully seek his wisdom. Regardless of the outcome of a national election, a Christian's citizenship is in Heaven (Philippians 3:20). The biggest difference-maker isn't any political party or cause, but the King of kings himself.
