How marvelous this world would be, If everyone were just like me! All debate would quickly end,
And everyone would be my friend. There'd be no need to disagree If all would just conform to me.
I could tell them what to wear, And how to talk, and trim their hair, And what to eat, and how to bake, And how to grill their T-bone steak. Our conversations would be fine If their ideas agreed with mine.
I'd gladly tell them how to drive: No hasty turns—let's stay alive! No radios with blasting beat, No double-parking on the street. No tail-gate driving in the rain, No slow-pokes in the passing lane.
I could guide their movie picks And shape their views of politics. I could pick the tunes they hum, And choose their brand of chewing gum. They could cheer my favorite team, Support my cause, fulfill my dream.
At church they'd sing my favorite songs And preach against my favorite wrongs. They'd start and finish right on time, And never ask me for a dime. Why read the Bible through and through, When I could tell them what to do?
. . . And yet, there's something quite askew With such a selfish point of view.
And there’s a problem I can see If everyone were just like me. I guess the trouble's deep within— The problem is my ugly sin!
If others all were clones of me, They'd share my eccentricity. I have my faults, and so do they. So honestly I now must say, "How sad and bad this world would be, If everyone were just like me!"
A higher standard we must find To make us one in heart and mind: A model Life, the perfect Lord, A trusted Book, the Spirit's sword. Become like me, and hopes are slim. The greater goal? To be like Him.

Just as Jesus Said
My junior high and high school English teachers were sticklers on grammar. They required students to diagram sentences, write essays, and expand our vocabulary. Back then I preferred playing basketball over diagramming nouns, verbs, and prepositions. I had no idea that years later, writing would play a significant part in my ministry.
Just the Facts
The evolutionist Aldous Huxley once said, "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." Unfortunately, many people never have confronted the multitude of facts that support the truthfulness of the Bible.
