It’s the way his heart was “filled with pain” because of the wickedness he saw on earth in the days of Noah (Genesis 6:6). It’s the way he got so fed up with legalistic religion, faithless feasts, and heartless sacrifices that he said, “They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them” (Isaiah 1:14). It’s the way he looked upon the complacency of his people and exclaimed, “I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies. . . . Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.
